Dance Styles: Fancy Shawl and Jingle Dress Cedar Smoke, a member of Chippewa’s of Georgina Island.. Cedar has attended ceremonies and sat with Elders and teachers her whole life. She travels extensively throughout Turtle Island as a powwow dancer, dancing both Fancy Shawl and is a Jingle Dress Dancer. A sacred Dress for healing ceremony. Cedar is a Dancer, artist, workshop facilitator, Anishinaabe Water Walker and walks the good red road. She has also attended Sundance in Pipestone, Minnesota and was part of the Gathering of Sacred Pipes with over 150 pipe carriers in attendance and has committed to the Sundance ceremony in Pipestone for the next three years. Cedar Smoke is a member of AIM - American Indian Movement, Ogitchidaa Youth group and has marched on Parliament Hill to battle the Canadian govt attempt to control her education. She is a strong advocate for First Nations youth and lives Biimadiziwiin- Living her good life. |
